Project: maintenance, blasting and painting service for 8000 m³ oil storage tank
Scaffolding: ADAPT® multidirectional
Location: Ivory Coast
The main concern was granting safe access to the external perimeter and the internal area of the spherical structure. The curved geometry represented one of the greatest challenges. Unlike conventional structures, the sphere’s radius required rigorous study of modulation, control of the off-set and adaptation of working platforms.
The following critical points were identified:
- Geometric compatibility between the scaffold and the sphere shape
- Total accessibility to the upper and lower areas
- Safe assembly and disassembly phases
- Coordination between access stairs, working platforms and circulation areas.
The use of PON CAD software, in combination with ADAPT Multidirectional Scaffolding, proved essential due to the high flexibility that allowed for easy adaptation to angles and different levels of the area. PON CAD brought significant advantages throughout the project development process, granting fast 3D modeling, immediate visualization of incompatibilities, great control over modeling
Another important aspect was the planning of the assembly phases. The strategy adopted sought to ensure progressive stability of the structure in all construction stages. Digital modeling by PON CAD has made it possible to anticipate real construction difficulties, significantly reducing the risk of improvisation during the execution phase.
